Frequently Asked Questions

I offer face to face counselling sessions at my practice in Camberley and also online and telephone counselling throughout the UK. I offer short term or longer term counselling and work Monday to Friday with some availability in the evenings.

What can I talk about?
Your counselling sessions are your time and you can talk in confidence about whatever is troubling you. It could be related to anxiety, stress, self confidence, depression, relationships, bereavement, anger or loneliness or it could be something else. As a professional counsellor, I offer a warm, sensitive approach without judgement and a space to talk confidentially about whatever is troubling you. Together we can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences and understand the difficulties you are facing.

How often will I have sessions ?
We usually meet weekly and each session lasts 50 minutes. We can agree a time that works for both of us. I offer short term or longer term counselling and work Monday to Friday with some availability in the evenings.

How much do sessions cost?
I charge £55 per session and I also offer a reduced rate for trainee counsellors and full time students. Payment is made via bank transfer and I ask that this is paid at least 24 hours before the session.

How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different so we can talk about what might work for you. The number of therapy sessions is completely your choice. Sometimes we agree on a small initial number and then we review to see how things are going and whether more sessions would be helpful to you. But this is only a suggestion and you can also stop counselling at any time.

Where are you based?
My practice is in Camberley, Surrey. As a psychotherapeutic counsellor in Camberley, I offer counselling therapy for all local areas to Camberley including Farnborough, Sandhurst, Ascot, Farnham, Lightwater and Windlesham. I am professionally qualified in supporting adults and young people aged 16 and over by offering counselling therapy through face to face, online and telephone sessions with face to face sessions taking place at my practice in Camberley.

Can I find out more about counselling before I decide?
Finding the right counsellor can be difficult and you might not be sure that you want to go ahead with counselling. I offer a free initial telephone consultation so that we can talk about what you need and to help you decide if I am the right counsellor to offer the support you need.

Will counselling work for me?
When we have our initial telephone consultation, this will help you decide if counselling could be right for you. Many people find counselling brings relief and helps them feel more comfortable in themselves and more able to cope with their problems, but it might not suit everyone.

Is everything I say confidential?
Counselling is a space to talk freely and what you tell me is confidential, however there are a couple of exceptions. If I am concerned about the risk of serious harm to you or to someone else I would need to break confidentiality and speak to another professional. Wherever possible, I would discuss this with you first. There are also legal limits to confidentiality and if there was any disclosure of harm to a child, threat of terrorism or drug trafficking I am obliged by law to report this to the correct authorities.

As a professional counsellor, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework requirements, my work is regularly supervised by a qualified supervisor whose role is to ensure that I am working professionally and ethically. I attend supervision and refer to my clients only by their first name and all conversations between myself and my supervisor confidential.

My private practice is based in Camberley and so if you are in Camberley or local areas including Farnborough, Sandhurst, Ascot, Farnham, Lightwater or Windlesham, please contact me for a free initial telephone consultation.
